Drugs Moving Tiers Effective March 1, 2019
BlueChoice HealthPlan continually evaluates our prescription drug formularies and drug management programs to ensure effective management of quality and costs. We work with a group of independent doctors and pharmacists to assess our pharmacy programs and get recommendations.
On March 1, 2019, many drugs on the BlueChoice® six-tier commercial Prescription Drug List (PDL) will be moving to higher tiers to better align the tiers with the cost of generic products. Here is a complete list of drugs moving tiers.
While this change affects mostly generic products, some associated brand drugs are also moving tiers. Letters are being sent to impacted members who are using long-term, or maintenance, drugs that are moving tiers. Here is a sample letter these members will receive.
These impacted members will NOT be receiving a letter:
Members who were identified as using drugs deemed for “acute,” or one-time, use
Members using drugs that will be moving from Tier 1 to Tier 2
Members using drugs that are covered for $0 under Healthcare Reform (HCR)
