South Carolina Obamacare Agent Update – 10/3/2013
The Federal Facilitated Marketplace continues to experience extremely high volume. Various news sources are reporting that approximately 2.8 million people visited healthcare.gov in the first few hours of opening. As your South Carolina Obamacare Agent, we are constantly monitoring the status of the Federal Exchange Marketplace. At this time, we recommend postponing enrollment until traffic subsides. We hope that next week will see a more reasonable traffic load, allowing for easier enrollments. Of course, as your South Carolina Obamacare Agent, we would like to remind you that enrollments must be completed by December 15, 2013 to be effective for January 1st, 2014.
South Carolina Obamacare Update – 10/8/2013
During the first week of open enrollment for the Affordable Care Act, the Federal Health Insurance Marketplace has had a rocky start, to say the least. As your trusted South Carolina Obamacare Agent, we are continuously checking the status of the enrollment portal at www.healthcare.gov, as well as keeping an eye out for any pertinent news regarding open enrollment. Recently, while perusing the news, we found a particularly disturbing article from CNBC.

On Friday, CNBC reported that as many as 99% of Obamacare enrollment applications contain enough information for the insurance carrier to process the application! Another insurer reported that approximately half of all applications received did not have enough information to process the enrollment. Don’t let this happen to you!

South Carolina Obamacare Update – 10/23/2013
The federal marketplace website is still experiencing sporadic bugs. In particular, the identity verification process appears to be unreliable, especially for applicants with a recent change of address. As your South Carolina Obamacare agent, we advise waiting until November 1st before attempting to apply. Though we are receiving anecdotal reports of applications being processed successfully, we are still being told that Obamacare Insurance carriers are receiving bad data from the exchange. We hope by the time the month ends, that the “tech surge” announced by the president will have resolved any lingering issues.
South Carolina Obamacare Update – 11/01/2013
The federal marketplace website login has been down all week. We are hoping the revamping of the website will be finished soon. The President and various administration officials have stated that the Obamacare Federal Marketplace website will be working for most people by the end of November. Various news sources are reporting that a total of 6 people enrolled on the 1st day of open enrollment. Stay tuned for more Obama Care News!

The federal marketplace website has been working somewhat more reliably. However, as of Thursday 11/07/2013 the site indicated the HUB was down. Although we could complete and submit a subsidy application, we could not receive a subsidy determination. Stay tuned for more news!
